VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS

Each month, Bethany House has a volunteer orientation. This is a time to see if Bethany House is a good fit for you. During the orientation, you will learn more about Bethany House, ways you can get invovled, and what it is like to be in the shoes of a victim of domestic violence. Volunteer orientations are held from 4:30-6pm at our office (6121 Lincolnia Rd., Ste. 303, Alexandria 22312).

Our next volunteer orientation will be Thursday, March 18th from 4:30-6pm at our office location. If you are interested in attending, please contact Jennifer at jwassermann@bhnv.org.

SUPPORT FROM VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are a vital part of Bethany House.  Volunteers donate an average of two to sixteen hours weekly. They assist with office and clerical services, outreach assistance, and help to facilitate small group activities. Other volunteers help to maintain the shelters and put on special events. Some volunteers also help in Joseph’s Coat to receive, sort, price and tag donated items. Professional volunteers donate their time to assist with pro bono legal services, medical services, and professional counseling.

Student Interns
Bethany House of Northern Virginia, Inc. offers one internship for bachelor or master level students in colleges or universities each semester at Bethany House to learn how to help Domestic Violence victims and their children. Interns assist Family Assistance Program workers by providing additional professional support service in the areas of counseling. We are accepting applications for Summer and Fall 2010. Please send your cover letter and resume to Jennifer at jwassermann@bhnv.org.

Pro-bono Volunteer Support
Pro-Bono Professional Volunteers provide services that clients would not otherwise be able to afford. Pro-bono volunteers donate their time to assist with pro bono legal services, medical services, advocacy, financial training, secretarial skills and counseling services.
